Grumpy

I have a rotten stinking cold and it sucks. My nose is blocked up, my ears hurt, my throat is killing and im tired and i cant sleep. Im also grumpy can you tell LOL

This is just a bad ending to a bad week. Work is really hacking me off right now. I finish in 5weeks so i shouldnt care but my "replacement" for maternity cover is coming in on a much higher salary than me which i think is hugely unfair. Boss gets round it by saying the new staff member (who happens to be a friend) will be doing a different job but why, if thats the case, have i to hand everything over to him then. He has no experience in the field and is coming from a completely different career to cover the job. Boss knew to get him she'd have to pay him higher because of the salary hes on in his current job. Don't get me wrong, he's a nice guy who will be great at the job BUT.....we're a charity and it doesnt seem right to me and its really, really bugging me. DH keeps telling me to forget about it - im leaving, i will have a new wee baby soon and might not even return to work there (certainly not full-time anyway) but me being me, it just grates on me, i hate feeling hard done by!! Rant over!

Last night, i wasnt feeling as bad as today so i bought some wee pumpkins on the way home and we carved them. The one on the left is mine, the one on the right is DH's. They make me laugh! We dont celebrate halloween (and it isnt that "big" over here anyway) but this was fun to do!!
Ive got bigger in the last few weeks, check out my tummy now at nearly 31weeks

You're right. It's wrong. If they have the money to pay him, they have that money to pay you. With experience! It's sad that in 2008 people still think men need to be paid more than women.

I agree with Anna...and you! It's not fair. I don't care how much fluff she puts on it! So sorry:(
Love your pumpkins:)

If he's doing the same job as you - you should be getting the same pay. You could have a case for sexual discrimination as the only difference between you and him is gender.

No wonder you are grumpy, with a stinking cold and someone coming in and getting paid more - I'd be very grumpy too!

Maybe if you do end up back there after you have the baby, you could use it as leverage to be paid more (and throw in the word discrimination, it might help get you what you want).

Your pumpkins look great!

Cheryl, I'd be mad too, I think I'd get onto someone bout that. Surely he should be on the same or less than you as he has no experience.....It's not what you know it's who you know!!!
I really feel for you with that cold yours is just starting it's horrible. For the first few nights I couldn't sleep because as soon as I lay down I couldn't breath, I can breath better now but my head still feels all bunged up. And now I have the cough which I need to get rid of soon......Hope you feel better soon.
OMG Can't believe only 9 more weeks to baby T's arrival, wow, it will fly by for you now. You've got a very neat bump. Best of luck with that.
Are you getting any stitching done???

Hmm I think the pay thing may be in breach of equal pay legislation but it would need you to prove that he is doing exactly the same role to pursue it through tribunal. I work in the charitable sector too so I feel your pain about some of the working practices.

It always amazes me how men get more! And yet we women always pull more a work load! Patootie on them!
You are looking very lovely new mommy to be!

What a lovely tum you have!! :D You look beautiful even if you're not feeling good.

I'm sorry about the whole thing about the replacement. That does suck, and it would tick anyone off!!

All of those things taken together, I'd be cranky, too. But the tummy is cute and so are the pumpkins.

Ooh, your bump IS getting big. I'm getting really impatient too.

There's nothing worse than a bad cold when you can't take anything for it! I hope it clears soon for you. And I don't blame you with being upset over your replacement's higher salary. Some things are just never fair.

Your pumpkins are so cute.
I hope you get over your cold soon. Not nice to feel so unwell but you do have good reasons. Take care!

I'm sorry about the job/salary situation, but why do you know how much he's being paid. Isn't that something your boss should keep to herself? If for whatever reason you are supposed to know then that just makes it worse and I think wrong..like the others stated ~ sexist!

Your pumpkins look great! and that baby bump of yours precious! Not long now!

How frustrating!!! I totally agree, I'd be mad too!

Hate to hear about your cold. Nothing like being sick when you are pregnant because you really can't take anything for it. I had the worst allergy problems when I was pregnant. Hope you get better soon!

Looks like your little bambino had a growth spurt! :-)

Oooh look at that tum!! xx

Ahhhh, look at you and the bump! All very exciting :) Hope you're over the worst of your cold, I hate a winter cold :(

Yeah, I would be fairly ticked off if I knew my replacement was getting more than me too. Highly unfair of the company :(

I can understand you being mad as im in a similar situation as you ( well apart from im not pregnant ,3 kids is enough lol) but your hubby is right you cant do anything about it so just enjoy being pregnant cos it wontbe long before your baby is here then you wont care you will be too busy trying to have a quiet moment lol

Rats, Cheryl, I feel for you. But sod them: you have a baby on the way, just like your wise hubby says. Sorry about the cold.
