Big ship comes to (our) town!

Im back from my work conference. It's been a long and tiring week. I was dreading it, especially spending all that time with my boss, but it wasn't too bad. I still hate going away for work though and unfortunately have to go away again next weekend (no boss this time!) We were in a gorgeous hotel in a place called Aviemore. I managed to get to the pool on Monday night for a swim which was great. The rest of the time was too busy unfortunately. One thing i will say is that the Scottish Highlands are amazing! The drive up was long (5hours) but wow, the views were stunning. I forgot my camera but found these pictures of some of the sites we seen on route! I definitely want to go back up there sometime for a holiday.Tonight the QE2 sailed right past our town! It was cool! The QE2 was built and then launched on the River Clyde 40 years ago and hasn't been back since so this was it making its farewell tour before it is becomes a floating hotel in Dubai next year. It was quite a big event; roads were blocked and loads of people were down at the river waiting for it to sail past. It sailed past our town about 7.30pm tonight.
Im way behind on reading all your blogs but hope to catch up over the weekend. Im off now until Tuesday! Woo hoo!!

The boat sounds like it was a huge event! How cool a floating hotel!

Oh, I remember the thrill of seeing the QE2 when it was in Boston, way back during my university years.

We're of Scottish ancestry and it is one of the places on my 'short list' of trips I must make before going toes up. ;)

Aviemore is great - we used to go there for a week every October, although Aviemore itself has changed a lot since then. And yes - the scenery is just breath-taking!

I love to see your beautiful pictures very much!
And from the last post, my mum tried to stitch "Amitie" from Echevette, it was the first stitch for her, and she finished as an ornament, but your idea to make into pillow is sooooooooooo beautiful!!!
I will definitely try to make one into the pillow as following the tutorial!
Thanks for sharing!

I'm on vacation after tonight and I swear my mind has already left me, I can't seem to do any work. Hopefully the night goes fast...the pictures are BEAUTIFUL! I'd love to visit Scotland sometime, a nurse's daughter here got married in Scotland and the pictures she bought back were so beautiful! The grass was truly green LOL.

I just "discovered" your great blog - am enjoying it no end!

Reading about the QE II sailing through your town reminded me of seeing it when we were stationed in Panama, 1979 through 1983. My good friend and neighbor told me it was transiting the canal, so we rounded up my sons, got into my car, and drove over to see it, at about 9:00 at night. Very impressive, I've never forgotten it.
