Stashing again

My weekend away for work was fine. I always dread going away and then it's never as bad as i think it will be. I had a lot of free time whilst my young person was in training (and guess how i spent it?!) We were staying just outside a wee village called Comrie (about 2 and a half hours from my home). Turns out this was the village my Gran grew up in and she married my Grandpa there. My great-grandparents are buried there. What a coincidence eh?! The village is tiny but lovely. On saturday afternoon i trecked around the only graveyard i could find to visit my great-grandparents grave but i couldn't find it unfortunately. I did find the church my gran and grandpa were married in though. Lovely isn't it?There were beautiful views from the church's grounds. I'll have to see if my Gran had any wedding pictures taken with this background. There are so many gorgeous places in Scotland. I wish the weather was more dependable and then i'd spend my holidays up north visiting places. So i now have monday and tuesday off seeing as i "worked" at the weekend. Great! I have lots to do. The inlaws arrive from Canada a week today and will be with us for 5days which is bearable LOL! Im working all week so i'll only see them in the evenings, Matthew has taken the week off work. My FIL is lovely but my MIL is hard work, so evenings will be fine for me ;) So im going to do some serious cleaning/tidying/organising in the next few days. I also have to wash my fabrics for the quilting class on thursday and im getting my haircut tomorrow. Im quite sure i'll get time to stitch too and maybe fit a swim in at some point as well. Busy, busy.

Secret stitching is doing nothing for my stitching blogging! I have been stitching but have nothing to show! I have nearly finished the stitching for the Specific Designer Exchange on the SBEBB, i have finished my sqaures for Donna for the Fair and Square Exchange and i also finished a wee gift too. I should get them in the post today so pictures in the near future hopefully! I was bad and got more stash recently. Here's my purchases:

Rather than stitch this as one big piece, i think i will stitch 12 little ornaments. Probably not before Christmas this year though!

I also bought Lizzie Kate's "Baby Sampler." I loved this one after seeing it on Hannah's blog. My friend had a baby on the 27th (one month early) and im going to stitch this for baby emma who is only 3lb11 at the moment and is still in hospital. Before i go has everyone seen the companion piece to Cirque des Cercles? It's called Triangular and you can see it here. I can't decide whether i like it or not. Im curious to see what you CdC stitchers think. Thanks Cindy for the link!

That's a nice church, thank you for the pics :)

Lovely charts you stashed!

I prefer cDc than Triangles, maybe it's the colour you think?

Lovely pictures, Cheryl. I'm glad the weekend turned out to be such a positive experience.
I think I must be the only person in the world who loves her MIL to bits :o)

I know exactly how you feel when it comes to secret stitching and not being able to post any pictures! Even worse is when I'm working on something and I can't decide if I'm going to give it away, or keep it for myself.

You're definitely ahead of me on exchange stitching. I haven't even started on my F&S squares, or the specific designer exchange. At least I know what I'm doing for F&S.

Lovely photos! I'm glad you had a good time. I hope your visit with the in-laws goes as well!

I'm not much a fan of Triangles yet... maybe when I see it in other colorways I'll change my mind.

I think I like the circle design better than the triangle design, but it still is very nice!

I hope your visit with your in-laws goes well. I lucked out with a great MIL. The only thing that really bugs me sometimes is that she's constantly asking when we're going to have kids! (We just got married a couple of months ago.)

Lovely church and some nice stash. That LK baby piece is really cute. I like the triangular piece-I had heard there was going to be a companion piece. But, I thought it would involve circles somehow-LOL

It may grow on you after awhile, CdC had to grow on me too. Good luck with in law visit.

Looks like a beautiful little town you visited, and not a bad deal too! Two days of "working" (stitching) and then two days off!

I don't like Triangular, but then I'm not a fan of CDC either. But I'd still perfer circles, they're just... softer.

Well hi there, Cheryl! Thanks for dropping by by blog, hence allowing me to come find you. :) I have a complaint though!!! I hadn't known about that triangles pattern, and now I might have to have it. Drat!!!! I figure the more obtuse triangles would make great pendibules. And beside finding that stash for me you had to show that 12 Days thing. I didn't know/remember that PS had one. Double dang it!!!

Good show on visiting the grandparents wedding church. You are right it is a lovely place.

Good luck with the in-laws!!!!

Oh, and I completely understand the secret stitching problem. I solve it by buying stash. then I still have plenty to show. lol

I've never stopped off at Comrie but I've passed through it a few times. It does looks like a peaceful place though.

I got the link to Triangles from Cindy too and I can't say I'm overly impressed by it. I'm STILL at the dithering stage with CDC though so it's probably a good thing that I'm not fond of it. I couldn't handle 2 dithers at once, lol.

Good luck with your MIL. If she's as hard work as MY mil.....I feel for you :(

I'm in secret stitcher mode just now too, lol.

Two days off work - how wonderful! Gives you lots of time for cleaning before the MIL arrives LOL!

I like the new CDC companion piece!

Wow, gorgeous Scotland! I would love to visit there someday. That is really neat that your great grandparents were married there :)

Have fun with your in-laws. Having family visit is a lot of work… I would be working during the time they were there too LOL! I just had my mom/sister/grandma here for quite awhile and my husband was working the whole time.

Have fun at your quilt night, and enjoy the rest of your week :)

Thanks for sharing your pictures. The church is lovely.
Love your stash. I'm waiting the arrival of some Prairie Schoolers as well.
Good luck with your family visit. I find them so stressful at times!

I like the triangles but think I prefer Cdc. I agree that it may not be the best colour choice for it.

Gorgeous church and pretty pictures. Like the baby sampler. I am unsure of the triangular one too. Not made my mind up about it yet. maybe if it was done in different colours perhaps? xx

Snap - I am doing the same thing with the PS 12 Days of Xmas chart :)

Was fascinated with your post about your husband taking the oath to protect Queen and country, etc etc. I don't think I could bring myself to do it - although it does mean that I have to traipse around with two passports and keep hanging out in the 'foreign people' queues at airports and train stations whilst my hubby waltzes through the EU citizens one!

Hope you have a wonderful time with the in-laws - there is always an upside to having distant rellies: you don't need to host too often :)

Beautiful pictures, someday I'd like to get over to that part of the world, there is so much history and beautiful scenery.

Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. I think you are just getting into quilting, right? Well, I have decided that stash hunting is fun, but I am realizing I have a lot of stuff that I will never use, unless I make a lot of scrap quilts, which I do like. I have decided that from now on, I am only going to buy fabric if it's for a project, like I did with the baby quilt fabric. But it is fun to collect, that's for sure!

Wow, Cheryl, I don't know where to begin to comment! I love the village pictures. The church of your grandparents reminds me of the church that Elizabeth Designs has in her charts...you need to go see it! Maybe to stitch for yourself and put your grandparents and the town name on? I saw the new companion to Cirque de Circles. I don't know what to think, either. I guess I'm more a circular person. I think the designs within the triangles are nice, but I can't warm up to the angular pieces. Does that make sense. And, finally, I love that you're doing the 12 Days of Christmas for yourself. Good for you. THat's why we stitch and we should be doing for ourselves and our family so we'll have something for them in our own family history!! LOve ya! Deb
