Crawling

My 7 month old baby is crawling and wow, crawling babies are hard work. He's been dragging himself around for months but as of Saturday 29th he is properly crawling and dont i know it! Ive discovered 1) My house isnt child friendly 2) My floors arent clean 3) My child has a lot of energy 4) You can spend a fortune on fancy toys but the box it came in always ends up being more fun. I spend my time at home constantly repeating; Watch your head (as he bangs it on yet another wall) Watch your fingers (as he opens and closes another door/drawer), No Caleb, Nooo Caleb, Nooooo Caleb . I cannot leave him for a second! All that aside, it is great watching him get around and discover new things. He loves it, you can see the pure joy on his face as he moves from room to room!

I was hoping he wouldn't crawl til after our upcoming holiday. We leave early Saturday to go to the Lake District. 4days with some friends at a cottage in Appleby and then 7 days at a caravan just outside Windermere. I am so looking forward to getting away. It'll be good to have a change of scenery and forget about chores and everyday routines.

In stitching, ive started something new; Bent Creek Snappers. Im stitching all the months on one long piece of linen.
And here's where i left off on Mary (told you i'd get bored soon enough)

Aaah, crawling and babyproofing. Just wait, you'll be longing for crawling once he's up and walking/running and climbing ;)

I remember those days! The crawling quickly leads to walking and running and climbing! Of course my son learned the climbing before the walking and running. What an adventure. How do babies have so much energy?!!! Enjoy!

Oh WOW, joy, joy!!. My son was 9 months exact when he started to crawl, but boy you sure do notice those points, especially the dirty floors. hehe

We're starting baby-proofing around here. We expect Sarah to be crawling soon. And for the record, my son spent most of his early mobility with a bruise on each temple from banging his huge noggin on anything and everything!

Oh you're in trouble now LOL Just bear in mind that you'll always be playing catch up on the baby proofing!

The wips look lovely, have a great holiday

Yay - well done Caleb!

Iona has finally decided to crawl too, even though she could be walking! I really must put locks on my cupboard doors now!

Have a great holiday - hope the weather's kind to you!

What an accomplishment for Caleb! Before you blink he'll be toddling around the house. Enjoy your holiday and your little one, he'll grow up too soon.

Super Baby! Just envision him with a cape and you've got Caleb the Great, the super baby with awesome powers: the ability to leap over pillows and warm fuzzies in a single bound!
Enjoy this time! It's really alot of fun!

Hi Cheryl! I've heard and seen this child progression from DD, Jessica. It is a phase, thankfully! Jess tells Kellan, "No, thank you." Because she's afraid of all the "No's" she has to say!! LOL Time goes by and the next thing you know...you'll be saying no to lots more serious things! It nearly never stops for a mom. You're a great one, Cheryl. Love and Hugs,
Deb

UGH! The mobile stage scares me. Especially for the poor dog. I guess he'll learn to stay on the bed or sofa rather than walking around to see what's going on!

Yup, once they become mobile like that things get really interesting really quick. It is amazing what all they find to get into, and the energy they have is amazing. Enjoy, and try to find time to yourself to catch a rest to keep up with him.

Oh the joys of crawling! I remember those days! Hope that you enjoyed/enjoying your holiday!!! Your stitching looks great. I get board on those large pieces too!

So while he's discovering the joy of crawling, you're discovering dirty floors and sheer terror --- hmm, sounds fair I guess. lol

Here's hoping your holidays were great fun and that the crawling didn't keep you on pins and needles too much. Say, that's one way to make sure you are really, really careful with your needles--- crawling babies. Ack! Now *I* won't be able to sleep.
