A finish and a RR

Thank-you to everyone for their comments on my kilt wearing DH! He was very embarassed when i told him i'd posted pictures of him!!

I finished stitching "The Three Emblems" by Papillon Creations. I stitched this on 32 ct cream belfast linen with DMC115I really like this piece and might stitch it again one day for myself. Do you know what i just realised the other day? I have VERY few pieces that i have stitched in my home. For the most part, everything i stitch goes to someone else. It doesn't bother me, i enjoy stitching for other people very much but i never really took stock of the fact that i have very little in my own home until recently LOL I have 2 big pieces on the go which are for my home...Dollhouse and Cirque des Cercles but who knows when i'll finish them!!

I am soon to start our Heartfelt Friends RR and i am very excited about it. We will be using LHN designs! Thanks to the fantastic Donna for organising it! Donna, im so glad to have "met" you through this stitching bloggers community! My linen arrived this morning and im thinking about starting the outline for my piece. I'm going away on holiday for a week in July (i volunteer at a kids camp every summer - not really a holiday LOL) and so i thought i might get going sooner rather than later. Anyway, i'm not looking forward to laying out the squares but hopefully it'll be okay! I couldn't get my head around the layout so i did a quick sketch! You'll think im crazy LOL. Here it is anyway. I plan on doing a nice pattern down the two vertical sides (probably at the end of the RR). What do you think?

Yesterday was DH birthday and we went out to a great Mexican restaurant in Glasgow. Today we are off biking for the afternoon, making the most of some dry weather! Have a great weekend everyone and thanks for visiting and leaving comments, i really appreciate you all :)

Hiya Cheryl!

I tend to stitch up large projects for myself and smaller ones as gifts or exchanges. But lately I've been stitching up on smalls and keeping them!

Have fun in the new RR!

I'm the same way with my stitching. I only have a couple of my own stitching displayed.

I love the color you chose for PC, its a beautiful finish. I considered doing Donna's RR, my first one, but I backed out. I guess I will have to jump in on one and just do it. Hope your DH had a great birthday.

The finish looks brilliant! And I'm with you, I don't actually have a lot of pieces that I've kept for myself, but I hope to change that eventually :) The Heartfelt Friends RR looks like it's going to be a lot of fun, and using LHN designs will be very cool. I'm gonna have to keep visiting the RR blog to keep up with everyone's progress! Happy belated birthday to your DH, and have fun on your little biking trip! :)

Three Emblems is beautiful, Cheryl!!! Love the colours!

I think we all tend to stitch more for others than ourselves... I made a vow when I started stitching again in 2002 that I would stitch more for myself this time... I didn't have much at all to show for my stitching from all the years before... gave most everything away as gifts and that was when we didn't take piccys of our stitching... so all I have are vague memories! lol Anyway, I've got several *me* finishes tucked away in my stitching chest that I need to get framed and several *me* pieces on the go just now... so, I'm doing better! lol Still stitching a lot of gifts, tho'. lol

I love the piccys of you and your DH... he's adorable in his Kilt... My DH wore his kilt at our wedding... nothing quite like a Scotsman {or a man} in a Kilt! ;-)

I'm looking forward to our RR... Your layout looks just lovely... and I love your ideas thus far!

Thanks for all your Sweet thoughts and lovely wishes of encouragement, Hun... it really has helped to bring some cheer to my days! :-)

Hi Cheryl, love your finish! Your RR looks like a lot of fun, I'll enjoy seeing your progress. Your DH is so handsome in his kilt! :)

I had the same realization about a year ago- that I didn't have many pieces of my own stitching, so I started making an effort to keep a few things. I stitched LHN's "Spot of Coffee" and "The Bookshelf" for myself, and I love looking at those.

Welcome home Cheryl! I thought you were going to be away for a whole lot longer than you actually were. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed yourselves.

I like what you have done recently in your stitching. I love that feather fairy by Mirabilia. How far from the top of the pile of 'to do' is it?

Beautiful finish! I'm like you, I really don't have many of my own finished pieces in my home. I hope to change that! Great planning for your RR, can't wait to see more!

This is pretty finish! I started out giving away a lot of my finishes-but now I tend to be a little more selfish and stitch things that go in my home.

I once gave a stitched piece to my sister-had it framed and she hasn't hung it up. That was three years ago. I am always afraid some people will not value the craft like I do!

Congrats on your lovely finish!

Oh, and I'm the exact same way. I actually have NEVER finished a piece for myself (and I've been stitching seriously for the past 7 years). I have tons done for friends and family, but never seem able to finish the pieces I start for myself. But like you, this doesn't really bother me, as I get far more joy out of making gifts for others :)

Love the finish... Cograts
I'm the same way about my stitching. Most everything I do leaves the house to make others people happy.

What a nice finish! I like the idea in your RR to put a design down the two sides at the end.
