Bank holiday weekend

This is a bank holiday weekend which means a day off work today! This was great as i had a busy saturday and sunday. Our friends from London came up to stay for the weekend. So i spent friday night and saturday morning getting the place tidy for their stay. On saturday evening DH was playing with his band at a big church event for young folk. They practiced a lot for this and it was worth it because they were great, i was so impressed! Anyway, we took our friends to the airport late last night and it has been great to have this extra day today to relax! DH went to the driving range with his friends and i stitched the afternoon away whilst watching season 2 of the gilmore girls (an american friend gave me the boxset - it's not on over here).

In typical British bank holiday fashion....it rained today. This was so annoying as it had been so beautiful recently whilst i've been stuck in that hole of an office at work. So my West of Scotland weekend photos were taken out of my windows LOL. Out of the kitchen window: and out of a bedroom window

this is not my garden, it's my neighbours, but i just love that blue/purple bush in their garden.

Now for a stitching update....i wanted to post a picture of Cirque des Cercles because i finished 1 of the circles (1 down, many many more to go!!)There's a bit of a shadow on the photo.

Today i decided to go back to Dolhouse. I feel like i haven't stitched on it in ages but the break was much needed. It's one of those pieces that require thread changes all the time and i get fed up of it sometimes. The break has been good though as i've enjoyed working on it again this afternoon. I'll post a picture later in the week.

Yesterday i was showing my friend all my WIPS and stash whilst our hubbies played on the Wii. She thinks it's hilarious that i love it so much and took great delight in teasing me. She's quite crafty so i thought she'd be interested but she didn't seem to like anything much at all and thought it was a boring hobby. I grew up with this friend, isn't it funny how you can be such good friends with people that have totally different interests? I guess sometimes friendships are more about the things you've experienced together in the past and that's our bond rather than similar hobbies etc.

On a completely different note...for anyone that read my post the other day entitled "a history lesson," the SNP won the election in Scotland by 1 seat :( I was so disappointed. At least they don't have a big majority. Im hoping no other party will join up with them because that way they will never pass a bill to have a referendum for Scottish independence.

That purple bush is pretty! You are making great progress on your Cirques. My best friend is really not into stitching either, but she is also crafty - so it does make it hard sometimes because she isn't really interested in what I'm doing. Big hugs - I love to see your work!

Cheryl, Your Cirques is going to be gorgeous! Love your beautiful pics, too. I would love to be there and see Scotland, and your part of England. My ancestors are from there. BTW, could you email me, I have something for you and need your addy: interiorsbydeb2@aol.com
Thanks & hugs,
Deb in FL
PS: Thanks for visiting my blog so often and for your comments!

You have nicer views from your place than we do, Chez!!

Thanks for the comment on my blog. The groom to be said, 'That is *nice*!' when he saw the card, but I didn't want to post that on the blog as it sounded a bit braggy!!!

We still have all our engagement, wedding and anniversary cards too. The only handmade ones are the ones I do for DH most years!

Quite a few of my friends are into stitching and various crafts, but most of us take an interest in what the others like anyway. We're such a well behaved bunch!!!LOL!

haha! I remember last Friday my SIL came over because she wanted me to paint her nails for her sr. prom, her boyfriend came to pick her up along with his best friend. I showed them my finished piece of South Seas Mermaid because SIL was so amazed at the details and sparklies. She decided to show it to her b/f and his bestfriend. They did not say anything at all, instead SIL"s bf joked and said " I will sleep with her." LOL. The look on their faces was somewhat undescribable, my only guess was that they did not understand what it was, so hubby said "baby, they are boys"..Yah boys...brainless! After all, sometimes i think they use the brain in between their legs more, not what's inside their skull. haha.

Cheryl - CDC looks great. I can totally understand friends not getting it. Mine are pretty supportive though, although more supportive of crochet. I hope you had a great weekend. Sounds like DH's event went great. I just got CDC in the mail - and I got the fabric. So just to finish L*K! Then I'm starting CDC.

I'd trade my rainy days with your rainy days any day, atleast your's has pretty photo opts.

I've *heard* of the arctic monkeys but never really sat down to listen to them until your comment. I bought the latest album and I can not get past 505 - it is now my new favorite song!

Can't wait to see your Dollhouse update - I haven't stitched on mine in months, maybe after Summer Snapperland...

I like the photo's even if they was taken from inside. The purple bush is cool. The WIP is looking nice. Glad you got an extra day to relax.

Your CDC is looking lovely! I just started mine this week. I love how many different colour combinations are possible with this piece.
Which silks are you stitching with?

Would it be too repetitive if another person adored your CDC? :P It really is looking great.

I hear about the Scottish election. Apparently it was a real botch job, almost 100,000 votes were void because of problems with the computer voting system. Doesn't that just make you want to scream?

Your WIP is just gorgeous, look forward to seeing more of it.
Friends.....I've been friends with my best buddy since we were about 13 in school and she's not a bit crafty..don't think she'd know where to start lol
Happy stitching

Most of my oldest friends also find cross stitching a bit of a silly, time-wasting hobby. Weird people, but it takes all types. ;)

If I had your neighbors, I'd sneak out in the night and try to take a piece of that beautiful blue bush and see if I could grow one myself. LOL!

Cirques is brilliant. I love it.

I love when people post photos of what they see from their windows, so thanks for that! :) And funnily enough, the bridge holiday here lasted 10 days, that is 10 days of cold, cold, cold weather. I pitied everyone who decided to have a holiday somewhere... lost money, pfff! ;-)

Circles is looking so pretty. To bad you had the rain on your holiday, but the pictures look good, nice and green, and the blue bush is very pretty.

Lovely pictures from your windows, nice things to look at even in our british rain. I did enjoy reading you post below on the History lesson. I agree with alot you had to say, my DH is Scottish and I had never realised how much alot of Scottish people dislike us English even my IL's who are my Scottish family do not like English people and quite happily tell me when they are in my house in England.....grrrrr!
